Jamie Foxx Reveals What Led to His Mysterious Hospitalization

Fans of Jamie Foxx were on edge last spring when the Oscar-winning actor and singer was hospitalized for an unknown health issue. He remained there for nearly a month before being released to continue his recovery. As for what happened that led to his hospitalization, Foxx can only recount what he remembers.

The Ray star just told his side of the story to fans on the street in a video circulating on social media. "Look, April 11 last year, [I had a] bad headache [and] asked my boy for an Advil," he said before snapping his fingers insinuating that was what did him in. "I was gone for 20 days. I don't remember anything."

Foxx was in Atlanta filming the new action flick Back in Action with Cameron Diaz when he suffered the mystery medical incident. "My sister and my daughter took me to the first doctor. They gave me a cortisone shot," he said.

"The next doctor said 'There's something going on up there,'" he continued, pointing to his head. He declined to go into further detail publicly, adding: "I won’t say it on camera."

The exact medical phenomenon behind his hospitalization remains unclear, though NSAID pain relievers like Advil have been linked to negative medical outcomes in some people. At the time of the incident, Foxx's daughter Corinne called it a "medical complication" on social media but noted he was "on his way to recovery" just a day after he was admitted to the hospital.
